International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace

Today is September 21, the International Day of Peace. Every country is encouraged to put down their arms and observe a cease-fire. Every person is encouraged to reflect on their place in the human connection, their story of the human experience, their role in the international day of peace.

World Conflict: The way of ego

Sadly, our world is full of conflict created through greed and ego. Bullies destroy lives and pillage dreams as they lust after land on the global playground. Fundamentalists declare that their way of life, their culture, their religion, is the only true way, and they take up weapons, emotional and physical, to defend this way. The rich destroy the poor. The strong destroy the weak. War is a game that destroys the sanctity of life and mocks the international day of peace. read more

prophetic word 2012, girl walks into mysterious light

Prophetic Word 2012: New Year

God’s prophetic word 2012 to the American church for the New Year:

2012 will not be a year of prosperity for the American church. I have given you more than enough. I am sick of blessing you with abundance and seeing you squander it.

Prophetic Word 2012 for the Church Buildings

God says:

I have given you giant church buildings to serve your communities, but you let these buildings sit empty all week. I have given you paid staff to tend to the needs of your neighbors, but you wile away your time on video games and porn. I have filled your offering plates so that you could bless the poor, but you have pocketed all of the money for yourself. I have even seen you take special offerings specifically for the poor, and then use that money as a Christmas bonus to yourself. This is an abomination in my sight. read more

Christmas Message 2011

Christmas Message 2011: Jesus the Plain One

Away in a manger, no crib for his bed..

The Christmas message 4 B.C. was that of a baby in an inglorious animal stable.

The Bible says that Jesus came to this world in the most humble way. He was rejected by people from his very first breath. He had to sleep with the animals. People had no room for him in their inn, or in their hearts.

Growing up and starting his ministry, Jesus had no loveliness to attract people to him, no flashy sermon typed up neatly on his iPad.

Isaiah prophesied:

He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. (Isaiah 53:2) read more

Christmas Eve 2011: Jesus’ Message

Jesus is speaking to the church as we celebrate his birth this Christmas eve 2011.

A Message of Love

Jesus says,

My Father is not Santa Claus. He keeps no list of naughty and nice, no list of rights and wrongs. He loves the changed heart of a sinner, but he resists the proud. How is your heart toward the Father? Are you pursuing His kingdom of righteousness, or are you pursuing the fleeting gifts of the world?

I give you far more than cheap goods from the retail store. I came to the world to give everything for you. I long to heal you, but you must come to me with a repentant heart. A bruised weed I will not break, and a smoldering wick I will not stuff out. I love you. Are you following me with your own cross? read more

all oppression shall cease, snowy fence

In His Name All Oppression Shall Cease

Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name!

All Oppression Shall Cease

These are the lyrics to the third verse of the beloved Christmas song “O Holy Night.” Yet how often do we forget that Jesus came to break chains, that at the very mention of his holy name all oppression must cease?

How often does the church who claims to love Jesus practice loving one another? How much love do we as Christians show to those who are outside our denomination, our social circle, our belief system? read more
