Beauty in Interfaith Peace

Beauty in Interfaith Peace:

Wedding Feast of the World

We can find interfaith peace as brothers and sisters of all religious paths, even in the haunted memory of extremist religious terror.

During his U.S. visit, Pope Francis participated in an interfaith ceremony at Ground Zero. The prayers and songs of all the faiths were beautiful and haunting. They revealed and respected the healing love of the Holy Spirit amidst human tragedy. This ceremony was true worship, worthy of the holiest throne in heaven. It touched the heart of God.

Interfaith peace teaches us about the many faces of God. There are infinite ways of knowing and experiencing divinity. read more

Shabbat and Lent: Religious Intersection

Shabbat shalom, friends.

As we approach sundown on Friday evening, Shabbat, of the first week of Lent, I am struck by the intersection of two great religions. Judaism and Catholicism. Shabbat and Lent.

Jesus lived in the intersection. He walked the holiness and healing of the ancient paths of Judaism. He showed us the sorrows and joy of the way of the cross and kingdom living. His followers of the cross were later called Christians.

My Personal Journey Into Lent

This is the first year I have ever celebrated Lent. Growing up evangelical, my church and family never taught the ways of Lent. They told me that Lent was a tradition of “evil” Catholics who are trying to earn their way to heaven. My heart breaks as I think back on the hateful words of people at my church saying that Catholics “work their way into hell.” read more

elephants grieve

Elephants Grieve And We Aren’t Listening

Elephants grieve. I recently read an article about an elephant in India who is grieving the loss of her mate of over a decade. Elephants and other animals have emotions and understanding to which we humans don’t always listen. We would be wise to open our hearts and minds to the message of the elephants.

Animals are so much like us. They feel happiness and sadness, love and loss. They communicate with each other, and with us. They have great wisdom to share. But we have closed our hearts, closed our spirits, and stopped listening. Too much religion has made us uncaring; too much science has made us unspiritual. read more

The Tree Told Me We Would Move: Prophecy

Talking With Trees

Several years ago I (re)learned how to talk with trees. Actually, I have been communicating with trees since I was a small child. One of my few early memories is rocking on my swing and listening to the trees whisper in the wind, the flowers sing in the sunshine. My favorite tree told me all sorts of magical childhood secrets. I believe that all children can communicate with plants, and animals, through the power of the imagination.

As a young adult in college, I loved to jog in the woods. I wanted to hear the birds chirping as the stood watch over my path. Giant trees, libraries of wisdom. I imagined them talking about the weather, musing on the frailty and follies of humans, as their leaves waved gently in the breeze. I pushed hard to the end of my race as I imagined the tree at the finish line told me I would make it. read more

trust god, sunlight streaming through trees

Trust God: He Cares for You

The Trees Trust God

The trees take in the rain,
the mist, the snow, the sun,
each season of its own.
Reaching to the heavens,
looking to the creator for provision.

The trees do not worry.
They do not gather, store, plan.
The trees just be.
Always looking to the sky,
and the great I Am.
The trees trust God.

Learn From Nature How to Trust God

When I look at the trees outside, I marvel at their ability to trust God. They are storehouses of wisdom, growing and existing longer than mortal human life. They spend hundreds of years on the earth. Yet, they don’t spend time in fret and worry, they don’t gather and store, they don’t trample on each other trying to gather the best thing for themselves, the best status. They just trust that the Creator will take care of them. read more

angel art flower

Angel Art

Angel art is always created before Yahweh’s throne. Heaven is a place of imagination, love, beauty, and art.

Angels Dance

Angel art dances before Yahweh’s throne. Angels twirl and circle, their graceful bodies sweeping the air, kissing the branches of the trees. They land on butterfly toes and skate the surface of the glass sea. Walking on water is no miracle in that land. Dancing on water is the miracle and the joy. Joy shown in a smile that stretches from the dancers’ faces to their outstretched arms. Joy shone in the twinkling of their eyes and the sparkling of their white gowns. Their joy flickers in the earthly realm for humans with open hearts. Angels lead the mating dance of the crane, or the early morning sky-dance of the stars. Humans rarely notice this dance of joy, but the joy is mirrored on the face of the Father. read more

Hope

Hope.

How can one continue to hope when everything seems so hard in life?

I have applied to over 300 jobs, and I have received few interviews and no job offers. My finances are difficult; I am living by going to school and taking out loans. How can I ever hope to repay these loans? How can I ever hope to find a job?

Living in poverty is so hard. People constantly take what little money you do have. There are endless bank fees, raises on bus fare, raises on rent. There are clothes and diapers to buy for a fast-growing toddler, and food that grows ever more expensive. read more
